Racing Miku 2018: a figure review

Hello all,

Today we will take a look at the racing Miku from last year (2018). This was the first of the racing Mikus that was available through standard sales as well private sponsorship. Prior to 2018 you had to get a personal sponsorship to get the nendoroid. A sponsorship started at 8000 yen, while the standard purchase of the nendoroid was 6000 yen (including taxes), which makes a bit of a difference in availability and price in the aftermarket. Last year (2018) her box is also a lot smaller than the years prior to 2018 because good smile company made all nendoroid boxes more compact.

Like usually I bundled the pictures in slide shows which allow you to scroll through the pictures.

The box

The box is more like a regular nendoroid box, rather than a racing miku box. Usually racing miku boxes have no box window. The back and sides has the color of her hair and has some motives from her theme on it. Also is miku featured with several poses. The top has serval logos on it, is white with also here theme decoration on it. What I like on the top of the box is that they used the same gradient of color on the decoration. It's very subtle, but very well executed.

The blisters

The car along with some extra arms is in the bubblewrap and doesn't have it's own blister. The stickers for the car are on the back of the cardboard of the inner box.

This miku comes with

- standard body

- one extra faceplate

- a staff

- four extra right arms/hands

- two extra left arms/hands

- one bend leg

- a car

- two sets of stickers for the car

- a stand

- an extra nekjoint

The car

The car has some black and the front- and back lights painted on the car. The rest needs to be added with the stickers. Because the manual was black/white it was quite hard to see where the stickers needed to go. The color pictures of this car saved the day. Stickering it wasn't too hard, if you placed the stickers a millimeter off nobody could tell. It was also nice to have two sticker sheets, this way you can always replace a sticker. One funny detail I noticed was the good smile company logo on front of the car instead of the actual brand of the car. Miku's belt is pre-attached to her seat, making it less obvious she has her legs removed.

Miku

In my opinion this Miku looks gorgeous, however there are a few things in this design I would have prefered to be different. One thing I dislike is the fur collar and the fur in her hair. The fur collar makes it look like she has no neck. (Nendoroids usually don't have much of a neck, but this collar makes it even worse.) The fur in her hair matches well with the rest of her outfit, but I don't understand why you would put stuff like that as a hair accessory. I absolutely love the color gradient in her hair, especially that they also added the color gradient in her bangs. Her twintails look super vivid, and playful because of the curliness in them. The star theme is present on her entire outfit; boots, dress, gloves, hair, eyes and accessories, which is nice and make the outfit a whole. I love the coloring of her eyes, the little touch of purple adds very well to the green of her eyes. The straps of the top match the straps of her boots, and color of the inner portion of her tailcoat. The bow on her back is quite cute and I like that they added a few logos of companies that produce merch. And instead of a buckle on her belt, they added a miniature car grill, I like that humor.

Different poses

The final verdict

This nendoroid is quite affordable probably because it wasn't sponsorship limited. She is super cute so I would recommend getting her is you are into racing Miku's.

She is currently for sale on Solaris Japan and can be found through this link:
