Hello all,
Today we will review Nendoroid 654 Hatsune Miku ''lion dance version''. The inspiration for this Nendoroid was the Chinese lion dance. The Chinese lion dance is a symbol of good fortune in China. The Nendoroid got released in December 2016; pre-orders were open from 7th July 2016 until 31st August 2016.
This box is quite large for a Nendoroid's box, normally they are a lot smaller. But due to its contents, it's reasonable to have a big box. I really like the Chinese decoration on the front's window. It's a shame they didn't add the decoration to the plastic on the sides as well. However, they did add a nice decoration to the cardboard on the sides. The back of the box is kind of plain, I wish they would have added a bit more effort into this.
The box contents: the main Nendoroid, her dragonly lion, a staff, 2 extra faces, a few extra arms, an extra bent leg, and a stand. The manual is quite long, I guess they were afraid that people wouldn't be careful enough with placing her lion hat. On the manual it is stated 3 times: ''Caution: Applying force in an unintended direction may cause damage.'' The extra arms and hands look quite nice and are painted well. The little Chinese dumpling looks really cute.
Her little lion minion is cute and I really like the design and colour scheme. Overall the paint is very well executed except a few spots where the lines aren't as smooth as they should be. I absolutely love the moving eyebrows where you can make the lion look very sad/angry and his little tiny tail that looks like a tassel. The body enables a wide range of motion of the head.
The Nendoroid looks cute, her standard face is a smiling face; which gives her an innocent look. The hair is quite different from a standard nendoroid Miku. They made her hair more swirly and stylized but left her bangs untouched. Instead of the standard hairclips, they changed them to these elegant hairclips. I like the detail put into them, the little bow on top of it, and matching the lion's design.
Her outfit looks nice and detailed as well, they gave her a Chinese dress with a twist. It looks like a hybrid between a traditional Chinese dress and an Eskimo dress. The painting on it looks good. I did find one small painting flaw on her hand. I laughed a bit when I saw the bell on her butt, this detail is also well executed. Because of the multiple cautions, I was careful putting her hat on, which resulted in the fact I could add her tails to her outfit like it was supposed to be. I didn't want any damage on the first day I had gotten her out her box.
I hope you did enjoy this review!
